Who's behind the organization?
“Studies in Bulgaria” was founded by Marika Vasileva, a consultant with over 10 years of experience in international higher education. Marika has studied in Russia, the Netherlands, and Sweden. She holds a bachelor's degree from Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands, which she has showcased at numerous educational exhibitions in Bulgaria and abroad, as well as a master's degree from Uppsala University in Sweden, ranked among the top 100 universities worldwide.
Having spent most of her childhood in Russia, Marika is fluent in Russian and English. She is also a certified student consultant with ICEF, an international network of selected education consultants.
Why do you need a local agent?
The admission process for Bulgarian universities requires a special certificate of recognition for the applicant’s previous education, issued by the regional office of the Bulgarian Ministry of Education. This can be a difficult or even impossible task for students who are unable to visit Bulgaria or do not yet have a visa. At Studies in Bulgaria, we take care of obtaining this important document on behalf of the student, and this service is included in our fee. But this is only one reason to apply to Bulgarian universities with us. If you use our services, you can save time and avoid missing important deadlines and deficiencies in your application.

She earned her bachelor’s degree from Breda University of Applied Sciences in the Netherlands. Her academic journey continued with a master’s degree from Uppsala University in Sweden—one of the world’s top 100 universities.

Nevena became part of our team a year ago, initially focusing on content creation, managing social media, and keeping our blog fresh and engaging. Her role quickly expanded as she took on responsibilities like building partnerships with universities and organizations, as well as assisting students with visa applications and enrollment documents.
A graduate of a Dutch university, Nevena brings a unique international perspective, enriched by her experience traveling the world while working for Carnival Cruise Lines.
